AC Milan & FC Porto in Direct Talks for Santiago Gimenez with €20m Valuation

Reports suggest that AC Milan and FC Porto have commenced direct discussions regarding Mexican international striker Santiago Gimenez. The asking price for the player is reportedly set at a minimum of €20 million.

The striker has not been a part of coach Ruben Amorim's plans for the current season and had limited playing time last term due to a significant ankle injury requiring surgery.

This injury, coupled with his participation in the World Cup with Mexico, has kept him in Italy, and he was left behind for the pre-season tour of Australia.

Gimenez Expected to Depart AC Milan

According to MilanNews, AC Milan and Porto held their first direct exchange of conversations today to deliberate on the conditions of a potential transfer.

Coach Francesco Farioli is reportedly an admirer of the form Gimenez displayed at Feyenoord before his €30.2 million transfer to San Siro in February 2025.

The proposed arrangement involves Porto acquiring Gimenez on loan with a purchase option at the conclusion of the season.

To avoid incurring a net loss on this transaction, AC Milan aims to secure a sale price of at least €20 million.

An alternative possibility involves loaning him to fellow Serie A club Lazio, although reaching an agreement among all parties in the current circumstances is considered highly improbable.
