Done Deal: Molina Ready for Roma, €18m Package Agreed with Atletico Madrid
Roma has finalized the acquisition of their new right-back, Nahuel Molina, reaching a full agreement with Atletico Madrid. The deal is reportedly worth a total of €18 million, with the player set to earn €2.7 million per season.
The Argentine international is expected to arrive for his medical examinations within the next 24 hours. Following the successful completion of his medical, Molina will join his new teammates at their pre-season training camp in Wales.
Sources indicate that the transfer fee consists of an initial €13 million, with an additional €4 million in performance-related add-ons. This total package, estimated to be around €18 million, is considered a favorable outcome for Roma, especially considering Molina's contract with Atletico Madrid extends until June 2027. He is a World Cup finalist, making this acquisition even more significant.
This move marks Molina's return to Serie A. The 28-year-old previously played for Udinese from 2020 to 2022 before his €20 million transfer to Atletico Madrid. Personal terms have been fully agreed upon, with reports suggesting a long-term contract worth €2.7 million annually.
It's also noted that Roma's initial primary target was Givairo Read. However, Feyenoord rejected a €28 million offer for the 20-year-old, and Roma was unwilling to increase their bid further.
