Gennaro Gattuso: Lazio's Mentality Shines in Udinese Win, Milan Clash Anticipated

Gennaro Gattuso lauded Lazio's resilience following a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Udinese, expressing his anticipation for the upcoming match against his former club, AC Milan.

Lazio, trailing after Jesper Karlstrom's second-half goal, rallied with contributions from Davide Frattesi and Albert Gudmundsson to secure a crucial three points. Gattuso highlighted the team's improved response compared to their previous Coppa Italia loss to Mantova, indicating that the players are successfully adapting to his tactical changes.

"The mentality and the desire. We dismantled everything compared to last year, when there was a master of the 4-3-3, and we are trying to do something different," Gattuso stated, as quoted by TuttoMercatoWeb. "The lads are doing things well. What we are trying to propose is not easy, but the team is alive."

The former Milan midfielder also acknowledged the significant contributions of President Claudio Lotito and sporting director Angelo Fabiani in navigating a challenging transfer market. He expressed gratitude for their efforts in bringing in players that initially seemed improbable acquisitions.

"With great difficulty, we made a transfer market that we didn’t think we could make. I have to thank both him and Fabiani; they deserve enormous credit for the players who arrived."

Looking ahead to the fixture against Milan, a club where he spent 12 successful years as a player, Gattuso reflected on his emotional connection to the Rossoneri.

"As a child, I remember the parade after the Steaua game with my father. For me, it was always an honour and a dream that lasted 12 years," he reminisced. "All the affection and joy cannot be forgotten, but today I have another job and on Sunday I hope to take points from the team of my heart."
