Lazio and Torino secure pre-season victories
Lazio and Torino concluded their final pre-season friendly matches with convincing victories, as both teams gear up for the upcoming Coppa Italia. Lazio triumphed over Ostiamare with a 4-0 scoreline, highlighted by a brace from Petar Ratkov. Similarly, Torino defeated Vado 3-1, with Sandro Kulenovic also scoring twice.
These matches served as the last preparatory tests for both Serie A clubs before their competitive seasons commence in the first round of the Coppa Italia next weekend.
Lazio's dominant performance
Under the management of Gennaro Gattuso, Lazio faced off against Serie C side Ostiamare and secured a comfortable 4-0 win. Petar Ratkov was a standout performer, netting the opening two goals before halftime. Although Mattia Zaccagni missed a penalty by hitting the crossbar, he redeemed himself later with two late tap-ins.
Notably, Alessio Romagnoli featured in the starting lineup, indicating that his potential transfer to Al-Sadd has likely fallen through. Lazio is scheduled to play Mantova in the Coppa Italia on August 16.
Torino's strong finish
Torino also participated in a friendly against a Serie C opponent, Vado, emerging victorious with a 4-1 scoreline. This match was their final tune-up before their Coppa Italia fixture against Carrarese on August 15. Sandro Kulenovic was instrumental in the win, scoring twice. The third goal for Torino came late in the game from 19-year-old Tommaso Gabellini.
Midfielder Kian Fitz-Jim, a recent arrival from Ajax, made his debut for Torino in this match.
