Mike Maignan Expresses Discontent with Milan's Trajectory; Al-Nassr Eyes Opportunity
Mike Maignan has postponed his vacation return to participate in Milan's pre-season training, amid reports of renewed interest from Al-Nassr, the club associated with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Last summer, Maignan was prepared to depart when he received a significant offer from Chelsea, but AC Milan was unwilling to sanction his transfer.
He was persuaded to remain by coach Max Allegri, director Igli Tare, and goalkeeping coach Claudio Filippi. However, all three were dismissed in May following the team's failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Maignan Perceives a Shift in Milan's Circumstances
Currently under contract until June 2031, Maignan is reportedly frustrated with the club's current course.
Both Maignan and Adrien Rabiot have extended their post-World Cup vacations, pushing their return from the originally scheduled August 12 to August 16.
It is likely not a coincidence that both players were close to Allegri and did not approve of his sacking.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Al-Nassr, the Saudi Pro League club where Cristiano Ronaldo currently plays, has approached Maignan.
Maignan, who also serves as captain, has been at San Siro since the summer of 2021, succeeding Gianluigi Donnarumma.
