Svilar: Roma Played Better Than Fenerbahce, We Accept the Draw
Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar expressed his belief that AS Roma had the superior performance in their 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce in the Champions League. He also conveyed confidence in his team's ability to perform well in Europe this season, mirroring their strong start in Serie A.
Bryan Cristante opened the scoring for Roma in the first half in Istanbul. However, Fenerbahce equalized shortly after halftime with a well-executed chipped goal from Archie Brown.
Svilar was one of Roma's key players during the match, making several crucial saves to maintain the draw when Fenerbahce pressured them towards the end of the second half.
When asked about his most impressive save of the evening in a post-match interview with Sky Sport Italia, Svilar stated, "The one-on-one with Muriqi was the most difficult save. I tried to do the same thing when they scored their goal, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay up a little bit longer. But it's fine, we'll take the draw and move on."
Similar to captain Bryan Cristante, Svilar felt that Roma deserved at least a point from their encounter with Fenerbahce, asserting that the Italian team was the better side on the night.
"There was always a feeling that both teams could score. These are proper Champions League games. We played better, but a draw is acceptable if we can perform as we have in the first few Serie A matches. I believe we can secure the points."
