Euroleague: Partizan Spoils Paris' Home Debut

Paris Basketball remains winless in Euroleague after a home loss to Partizan Belgrade. The team, coached by Maxime Lefèvre, struggled to maintain momentum after an initial strong showing.

Paris started with a 10-0 run, showing early promise with players like T.J. Warren and Mouhamed Faye. However, a dip in performance when the second unit entered the game allowed Partizan to close the gap. Former Paris player Kyle Allman Jr. helped Partizan narrow the deficit to three points by the end of the first quarter.

Carlik Jones, who was the Euroleague's MVP for the first round, demonstrated his value with 11 points and 3 assists in the first half, totaling 20 points by the end of the game. Paris maintained the lead for much of the second quarter, with Jared Rhoden contributing key plays, including a three-pointer that extended the lead to 26-17.

Partizan gradually took control of the match. Lamar Stevens cut into the lead, and a late three-pointer by Nikola Tanasković at the end of the first half gave Partizan a 40-44 advantage, energizing their vocal fans.

After halftime, Tonye Jekiri provided a significant boost for Partizan, contributing 9 points in the third quarter and finishing with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Paris, led by captain Herrera, managed to stay close, twice trailing by just two points. However, the score remained close heading into the final quarter.

Despite a strong drive by T.J. Warren in the paint, which momentarily suggested a comeback (65-73 in the 32nd minute), he and Nadir Hifi (19 points) found themselves isolated. Luca Vildoza, an experienced player for Belgrade, took over, scoring 16 points and making steals that led to fast breaks. A decisive play by Vildoza, including a basket with a foul that made it 73-87 with three minutes left, effectively ended Paris Basketball's hopes.

Paris must quickly regroup as they are scheduled to host the skilled Zalgiris Kaunas team on Thursday.
