Matias Soule on Inter Draw: 'They are the strongest'
Matias Soule admitted frustration after Roma dropped points at home against Inter. The Giallorossi surrendered a two-goal lead, settling for a 2-2 draw in a match where Manu Kone had scored a first-half brace, only for Lautaro Martinez to equalize for the visitors.
“I’m tired and disappointed we were up 2-0,” Soule told DAZN. “We can’t let this get us down. Competing like this against Inter shows we can do much better in upcoming games.”
When asked about the gap between Roma and Inter, Soule stated, “Obviously they are the strongest; they’ve been for years. There’s disappointment, but this draw should energize us for the long championship ahead.”
He also reported feeling physically fit. “I feel very good. The pubalgia is gone. I worked hard on it during the holidays and now I feel great. Last year, I could barely train.”
Soule is adapting to a new role on the left wing. “Playing on the left requires adjustment. It’s different from the right, but I try to help my teammates, especially with Paulo [Dybala] making a difference over there.”
He noted the increased competition within the squad. “We’re all available. Mora played very well against Atalanta. We’re a competitive team now, the level has significantly risen. We feel more like a family.”
The draw was particularly galling given Roma’s strong start to the season. They had won their first four league matches, conceding only once before facing Inter. Kone’s two goals, the second of which was confirmed by VAR after an initial offside call, had put Roma in a commanding position.
