Zidane's Spanish GP Enjoyment Ahead of First France Squad Announcement
Zinedine Zidane, the Alpine team ambassador, was ecstatic at the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid this Sunday. This comes just days before he is set to announce his first squad as the new France manager.
Zidane, clearly delighted, walked through the paddock at the inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix in Madrid. "I'm truly happy. I was eager to see the circuit, which I saw yesterday. Even though it's very technical, it's great for me as a Formula 1 fan. It's fantastic to see a Grand Prix here," he enthused, noting his residence in Madrid.
As an ambassador for the Alpine team since 2023, the France manager also commented on Pierre Gasly's recent pole position at Monza. "I sent him a little message, I was happy for him. I know how difficult it is to get a pole; when you achieve one, you have to be proud and happy about it," Zidane shared.
A Large Real Madrid Contingent
With Real Madrid having played Rayo Vallecano on Saturday evening in La Liga (winning 4-1), a significant portion of the squad, including JosΓ© Mourinho, was spotted in the paddocks. Vinicius, Federico Valverde, Thibaut Courtois, Ibrahima KonatΓ©, and AurΓ©lien TchouamΓ©ni drew attention. Some even visited the Ferrari paddock. Kylian MbappΓ©, however, was not seen.
Beyond the current team, several club legends were also present, such as Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo, Sergio Ramos, and Dani Carvajal. Rafael Nadal was also in attendance, witnessing Kimi Antonelli secure his eighth victory of the season with Mercedes.
Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Lando Norris (McLaren) completed the podium. Spanish drivers on the circuit did not achieve top results; Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) finished 17th, and Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) was two places behind him.
