Pio Esposito: 'I Don't Forget My Serie B Roots'
Pio Esposito continues to find the net for both Italy and Inter. The 21-year-old striker remains grounded, stating, "I don't forget that two years ago I was playing in Serie B."
Since his debut in September 2025, Esposito has scored seven goals in 13 senior appearances for the Italian national team. He contributed goals in two of the four Nations League matches during the recent international break, also providing an assist. Notably, he shared the field with his brother, Sebastiano Esposito, in two of these games.
Speaking at the Premio Gianluca Vialli awards in Rimini, Pio Esposito expressed his pride in his accomplishments with the national team and thanked coach Roberto Mancini for his confidence. "I am proud of what I have done so far with the Nazionale and thank coach Roberto Mancini for putting his faith in me," he said. "I don’t forget that two years ago I was playing in Serie B. Last season I made 50 appearances with Inter, and now I am playing alongside two of the best strikers in Serie A."
At Inter, breaking into the starting lineup is challenging for the 21-year-old, given the presence of established forwards Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram. Esposito, a product of Inter's youth academy, has already recorded two goals and one assist in five Serie A appearances for the club this season.
