Pedro Goncalves revealed his immediate agreement to join Fiorentina, stating that lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia held no appeal.
Speaking to La Nazione, the forward described his deadline-day transfer from Sporting CP. "I was ready to leave Portugal, but only for Europe β England, Spain, or Italy. Saudi Arabia? There was interest, but it didn't tempt me," he stated. "My manager and director Paratici had the first contact with Fiorentina, and I accepted instantly."
Goncalves is using the current international break to regain full fitness after arriving on loan in the final hours of the transfer window. "I needed about three weeks to be at my best, and with this league pause, I'd say I'm there now," he commented.
He is focused on his contribution to the team. "My intention is clearly to score many goals. I'm happy to be considered a key signing alongside Mastantuono, but I don't dwell on that."
Goncalves, along with Franco Mastantuono on loan from Real Madrid, are expected to provide the attacking prowess Fiorentina has lacked and deliver results when Serie A resumes.
